Wai Ho Choy is a data infrastructure and backend engineer with over 5 years of experience in designing and building end-to-end data pipelines. He is a generalist who enjoys all aspects of data engineering and has experience deriving business value from geospatial, time series, service logs, and unstructured text data. Wai Ho's past roles and responsibilities include API and warehouse DevOps using tools like Terraform, CloudBuild, and Github Actions, data warehouse latency and cost optimization using SQL, BigQuery, and dbt, API migration and optimization using GraphQL and REST, serverless and docker-based compute using Lambda, Functions, and CloudRun, IAM administration and PIA requirements-gathering, and monitoring and dashboards using Stackdriver, Sisense Periscope, and Data Studio. Wai Ho holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Experimental Medicine and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia.
